Traffic Alert: New traffic shift planned for emergency pipe replacement on Route 58 Business in Henry County

SALEM – Beginning Monday, August 31, a section of eastbound Route 58 Business (A. L. Philpott Highway) in Henry County will be closed for continued work on an emergency pipe replacement.

All traffic will now be shifted onto the westbound lanes, with one lane for each direction, as crews complete the pipe replacement. Barrels will separate opposing traffic, and the speed limit will continue to be reduced to 35 mph within the traffic shift.

The new traffic shift will begin at Route 1747 (Summit Road) and Route 1746 (Machinery Drive), and end at Club House Road. Motorists entering Route 58 Business from Summit Road, Machinery Drive, Dug Mountain Road, Club House Road or any homes or businesses within the traffic shift will be limited to right turns for the duration of the closure.

Drivers should pay attention to message boards and signs in the area. Work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Friday, September 11, weather permitting.
